From television to YouTube: digitalised sport mega-events in the platform society

Technological changes have dramatically transformed the ways in which contemporary sport mega-events are produced and consumed worldwide. As production consumption of these global spectacles moved beyond traditional television radio broadcast, this article examines reflects on hyper-digitalisation mega-events. More specifically, we explore how one emerging platform presents a window for examining questions power inequality; social integration identity; change development, finally, experience time space related to present-day. By employing video-sharing YouTube as paradigmatic case study Olympic Games’ digital shift, paper contributes towards an enhanced understanding mega-events, technologies platforms. We argue that systematic efforts understand manifestations ‘platform society’ remain extremely crucial when situated against but overlapping fields sociology, leisure studies football feature.
